I began the Morte series in summer 2023. Thematically it deals with death, life, eternity, humanity and mythology. Morte (“the act of dying”) has layered meanings: how it deals with my personal life, and how the world around us is coloured by parallel crises, on the way towards the unknown.

The aesthetics of the images came about through intuition. I have experimented with spatiality, textures and abstraction. The images are made with AI assistance using Lambda Labs' Image Mixer, which takes images as input. From these the program's image model forms a text vector, from which the final image is generated. As input I have used, for example, pixel noise and glitch, which gives the images organic textures and breaks away from the more typical aesthetics of AI images.

The aim of my work is to raise questions about creativity and artist identity in AI-assisted art. Is it possible to make art with AI that provokes critical thinking and emotion? How does the significance of AI-generated visual art position itself in relation to traditional visual art and art history?
